With just 12 short weeks until your wedding, all of the "big" things on your checklist should be complete. You'll have ordered your dress and venue, booked your photographer and organised catering. Now it's time to take care of the small, but no less important, point that will make your wedding perfect.
1. ORDER YOUR STATIONERY
Invitations, place cards and thank-you notes should all be ordered around about now. Invitations are generally sent out eight weeks before the wedding, and if you're having them printed to your requirements you may as well have your "thank-you" stationery printed at the same time. Place cards, of course, will have to wait until you know who's actually coming to the wedding!
2. BOOK YOUR ENTERTAINMENT
Again, this may have been part of your wedding package, but if it's not, start thinking about whether you'd like a band or DJ for the evening's entertainment. Music helps set the mood for your wedding, so you should also start planning what you'll walk down the aisle to, what will play during the signing of the register, and what you'd like to have for your first dance.
3. DEAL WITH THE PAPERWORK
If you're having a religious ceremony your parish priest will have made most arrangements for you when you booked your wedding. If you're opting for a civil ceremony, you will have to arrange to visit your local registry office to collect your Certificate of Authority, which allows you to legally marry.
4. ORDER YOUR WEDDING CAKE
Three months may seem like a long time to wait for a cake, but wedding cakes are works of art in themselves and it can take a number of weeks for your cake to be prepared - especially if you're having one made to a design picked by yourself!
5. EXPERIMENT WITH HAIR AND MAKEUP
As any bride will tell you, the day before your wedding is not the time to be experimenting with a radically different hairstyle or new makeup techniques. If you're hiring a professional to do your hair and makeup for the wedding, try to meet with them beforehand to try out different styles and work out which will be best for you. To be ultra-safe, take a Polaroid or digital camera along so that you can get an idea of how your chosen styles will look in the wedding pictures.
6. MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU AND YOUR GUESTS
If some of your guests are having to travel to the wedding, they'll need overnight accommodation, so make the effort to find out where they can stay and how much it'll cost. For those close at hand, you may wish to lay on transport between the church and reception venue, or between the venue and home.
Don't forget to book the bridal car, horse and carriage or whichever method of transport you've decided to use for the bride!
